Here is what I thought...
This is a nicely written historical fiction novel about that in between era of the 1930's that we rarely hear about in books. The story is told from Phyllis' point of view going back and forth in time from her release in prison and the time "before".I found that I did not really care for any of the characters which makes it hard for me to enjoy a story as I have no one to root for. Phyllis seems overly naive and never seemed to ever learn her lesson. This one is set in an interesting time with interesting themes but just fell flat for me. 2/5 stars
