The History Major by Michael Phillip Cash

Summary from Amazon:

After a vicious fight with her boyfriend followed by a night of heavy partying, college freshman Amanda Greene wakes up in her dorm room to find things are not the same as they were yesterday. She can't quite put her finger on it. She's sharing her room with a peculiar stranger. Amanda discovers she's registered for classes she would never choose with people that are oddly familiar. An ominous shadow is stalking her. Uncomfortable memories are bubbling dangerously close to her fracturing world, propelling her to an inevitable collision between fantasy and reality. Is this the mother of all hangovers or is something bigger happening?

My Thoughts:

Amanda wakes up with a hangover after a rough night of drinking and losing her boyfriend to discover her life has completely changed.  Her dorm roommate is a totally different person and when she finally drags her sick, lazy butt out of bed to head to class she finds other things have changed as well….the campus, her class schedule, the students…where is she????
Super natural YA thriller? It’s hard to pick a genre for this novella but it was interesting and slightly bizarre.  It got me thinking about things that is for sure! I am not much of a novella fan myself as I like a bit more of a meaty story.  I really think this could have been expanded on and made into a full length novel and been all the better for it.
SLIGHT SPOILER: That being said the author paints a very vivid picture and has an interesting take on life, death and the space in between.  It is a very interesting concept!
4/5 stars
